Skillrank ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have. Please read it carefully.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and the role you select (student, recruiter, or college administrator). If you're a recruiter, we also collect your company name. If you represent a college, we collect your institution name.
- Assessment data: When you take an Employability Test, we collect your responses and the resulting score. This data is used to generate your profile, surface you to relevant recruiters, and provide cohort insights to your institution if you're enrolled through one.
- Usage data: We collect standard log data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps — to keep the platform secure and to understand how features are being used. We do not sell this data.
- Communications: If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to help us respond and improve.
2. How we use your information
- To operate and personalise the platform — showing you relevant preparation paths, job opportunities, and assessment results.
- To make your profile visible to recruiters and, where applicable, to your college's placement team, based on your score and role preferences.
- To send transactional emails such as account confirmation, score updates, and important policy changes. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
- To analyse aggregate, anonymised usage trends so we can improve the product.
3. Sharing your information
- Recruiters and companies: Your name, employability score, and role preferences are visible to verified recruiters on the platform. You can review and manage your visibility from your profile settings.
- Colleges: If you registered through a college partnership, your score and preparation progress are visible to your institution's placement team. This is disclosed at sign-up.
- Service providers: We use a small number of trusted third-party services (hosting, analytics, email delivery) that process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: We will disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for advertising purposes.
4. Data retention
- We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it for a longer period.
- Anonymised, aggregated assessment data may be retained indefinitely for research and platform improvement purposes.
5. Your rights
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You can update your account details at any time from your profile settings.
- Deletion: You can request that we delete your account and associated personal data.
- Portability: You can request your assessment history and profile data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: You can object to certain types of processing, including visibility to recruiters, at any time.

6. Cookies
- We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- We use a minimal analytics cookie to understand aggregate page traffic. You can opt out through your browser settings without losing any functionality.
7. Security
- We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to team members who need it to do their jobs. We conduct regular security reviews.
- No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we take every reasonable precaution, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to this policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the 'Last updated' date below. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
